West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched over 612 projects for the Purba Medinipur region during her visit to Khejuri on April 3, 2023.

The Trinamool Congress government has undertaken various developmental works in the region, including building Adivasi hostels, classrooms, computer labs, resolving water woes, distributing smart cards, providing loans to various communities, and implementing various scholarship schemes for minority and OBC students.

Banerjee has launched numerous projects across the state since taking office in 2011, and some of the notable ones include the Sabuj Sathi scheme aimed at reducing the dropout rate by distributing bicycles to school-going students. Another is the Kanyashree Prakalpa project aimed at improving the status and well-being of girls by providing financial assistance and academic scholarships to girls from economically weaker sections.

The Rupashree scheme provides one-time financial assistance to girls at the time of their marriage, while the Yuvashree project offers financial assistance to unemployed youth for self-employment ventures. The Gatidhara scheme provides financial assistance to transport entrepreneurs to purchase commercial vehicles, and the Khadya Sathi project offers subsidized food to the poor and needy.

Banerjee's Shikshashree project provides financial assistance to students from minority communities to continue their education, while Jai Bangla aims at promoting the socio-economic development of the state. The Swasthya Sathi scheme provides health insurance coverage to people in the state, including government employees, pensioners, and workers in the unorganized sector the Jal Dharo Jal Bharo initiative aims to conserve water resources in the state through the construction of rainwater harvesting structures.
